TORTS

A tort (not to be confused with a torte - that silent E is very important) is a civil wrong that a person commits against another person or a community. While some torts can be very similar to crimes, a tort is addressed in the civil court system rather than in a criminal case brought by the state. Torts vary widely and can include physical torts such as assault and negligence, or non-physical ones like fraud or defamation. Torts is a very fascinating subject to learn about, especially if you have a taste for the morbid. Like they say in the media industry, if it bleeds it leads!
